Contained Drift

Kuvaus

In "Contained Drift," the astronaut is in a resting, almost weightless position. The figure drifts but is simultaneously held, protected, and confined all at once. The surrounding form can be perceived as a capsule, a cocoon, an inner space, or an invisible boundary. The astronaut's relaxed posture is in tension with the closed visor and the alien environment. The Earth/ground connection remains a distant sign of belonging, while the worn surfaces and fragmented layers suggest time, memory, and traces of something that was once coherent. The artwork revolves around states where humans seemingly stand still but are internally in motion. It explores the difference between being safely enclosed and being trapped in stagnation; how a pause can be both necessary protection and at the same time a limitation that must eventually be broken. Collage and mixed media created with recycled paper, paint, and texture-creating materials. Lacquered/matte finish.
