Description
There’s something fascinating about the way different elements come together in this painting. Deep blues, turquoise, earthy ochres and muted pinks meet touches of gold, silver and bronze. The metallic details catch the light in unexpected ways, adding warmth and a little shimmer to the darker, more layered passages. I love how a painting can bring together colours and shapes that might seem completely different at first yet somehow find their place alongside one another. For me, that’s what The Alchemy of Being is about the way contrasts, complexity and unexpected connections can create something beautiful. I haven’t wanted to give this painting one fixed meaning. I’d rather leave that to the viewer. Everyone brings something of their own to a work of art, and I like the thought that people might see or feel something quite different from what someone else does. Painting is created using acrylic and mixed media on linen canvas, with metallic accents adding extra depth and character. The surface is finished with a satin protective varnish.
