Description

"Urban Madonna" interprets the Madonna figure as a contemporary icon amidst a raw and fragmented world. Her calm, blue gaze contrasts with the worn urban background of peeling layers, cracks, poster remnants, and bold color fields. The work revolves around the sacred in the human and the ability to maintain inner peace, dignity, and spiritual connection in a world marked by noise, disruption, and change. However, the piece also contains a paradox: In our pursuit of redemption, we risk turning even the inner quest into yet another achievement. We search for ourselves so intensely that we almost disappear from ourselves. Collage and mixed media with recycled paper, text fragments, paint, and texture-creating materials. Lacquered/matte finish.
